I was out of my salon last week with a horrible cold and coughing that just wouldn’t stop. I felt awful and cancelled my appointments because I didn’t want to share this with my clients! When we have a cold our skin can look dull and lifeless, our noses red and sensitive from blowing our nose so much, our lips dry and chapped. And it got me thinking that it’s bad enough we have one, we don’t want to look like we have one right? So, what can we do to make our skin look the best it can when feeling under the weather? Here are a few things to do.
- Use tissues that have lotion in them. They won’t dry out your nose as much. Use extra moisturizer in the nose area, and add more during the day.
- Don’t use exfoliating products on the nose or skin.
- Continue to use your serums, moisturizers. (I’m always layering 4-5 products myself).
- Also no harsh cleansers or soap on your skin.
- Use lip balm liberally.
- Drink plenty of water and other fluids. Hydrate from the inside.
- Use a humidifier. Skin will stay more hydrated when there is more moisture in the air.
- Apply a night cream or heavier moisturizer before going to bed.
- Take a shorter shower, in a warm temperature water. Avoid hot showers as they dry skin out.
Well, I hope these tips help the next time you have a cold!
